If you are looking for a budget faucet water filter that is easy to set up, we recommend the Kabter Healthy Faucet Water Filter System.
It’s one of the cheapest faucet water filters you can buy and installation takes about 5-10 minutes.
You can hook it up to most standard faucets without using any tools or extra fittings.
While filtration performance is not as good as that of pricier faucet filters, it works well enough for most homes that receive city water.

Faucet water filters are generally not as efficient as under sink filters when it comes to removing impurities from water.
This is mostly because of their smaller size.
So don’t expect the Kabter healthy faucet water filter to remove all contaminants from your water.
It does a great job removing chlorine, heavy metals, sediment and various chemicals.
But it cannot remove dissolved solids like iron and scale or microorganisms like bacteria and cysts.
That’s the main reason we do not recommend it for use with well water. Typical well water contains too many impurities that the Kabter filter cannot reduce.
But for most city water, it’s great. The system uses a combination of three filters to improve the taste, odor and safety of water.
Food grade calcium sulfite ball: Calcium sulfite is a fairly common water filtration media. It’s often used as an alternative to activated carbon. In the Kabter filter, a calcium sulfite ball reduces chlorine and various other chemicals.
Activated granular carbon: This filter further reduces chlorine and chemical content in water. It also improves water aesthetics – color, taste and odor.
KDF55: Cleans up any residual chlorine and reduces heavy metals dissolved in water. Because it is naturally resistant to bacteria, fungi and mold, this medium ensures no harmful microorganisms are introduced into the water.
The three media remove a wide range of contaminants from water.
They are not enough to make your water 100% safe (they don’t remove bacteria, cysts and other germs) but if your water is already relatively clean, then the Kabter filter is good enough.
As with any other water filter, I recommend doing a water test before you settle on this one.
Send your water to a lab to check for total dissolved solids, heavy metals, chemicals and microorganisms.
If your water contains harmful microorganisms, I recommend a reverse osmosis under sink or faucet filter.
If it contains a high level of total dissolved solids (common in well water), this filter won’t help either. Get an RO system or look for a faucet or under sink system specifically designed to handle well water.
Installation & Maintenance
Kabter Healthy Faucet Water Filter are the easiest to install.
Unlike under sink and whole house filters where you have to cut into your plumbing, a faucet filter attaches directly to the faucet.
You do not need any extra fittings, valves or even tools.
The Kabter filter includes the filter itself, the filter cartridge that goes inside the filter and adapters for different types of faucets.
Using the right adapter, you can fit the filter on any standard faucet with an outer or inner thread.
Remember to remove the aerator first if your faucet has one. Then you can attach the filter to the faucet.
The Kabter filter has a small lever on the side that allows you to switch between filtered and unfiltered water.
When you switch it to unfiltered, you can use your faucet as you normally would. This is great for those times you don’t want to use filtered water such as when washing dishes.
By switching to unfiltered water for water-demanding activities, you can get the cartridge to last longer before replacing it.
Maintenance is easy.
All you need to do is replace the filter every 200 gallons. This equates to around 3-6 months for most families.
Unlike some faucet water filters, this one doesn’t have a filter life indicator. So you have to guess when the cartridge is worn out.
An easy way to determine if you need a replacement is if your water starts tasting weird again.
After months of clean fresh water, you’ll immediately notice if some chlorine and chemicals start getting through the system.
A replacement cartridge costs less than $15.
Replacing the old cartridge takes only a few minutes. You just need to open the housing, remove the old cartridge, put in the new one and you are good to go.
What We Like The Most About The Kabter Faucet Mount Water Filter
We love the simplicity of this filter. It’s easy to install and effortless to maintain. You don’t need any tools or fittings.
The compact size also makes it convenient to use especially over small sinks.
While this means it has fewer features and a lower capacity than pricier filters, it’s good enough for most families.
Filtration performance is not at the level of a full sized under sink system but it does a great job filtering city water.
We like that it combines the power of three filtration media to get chlorine, chemicals and heavy metals out of the water.
We also love the low price. It is one of the most affordable faucet water filters you can buy.
What We Don’t Like About This Water Filter
We wish it could handle well water. Unfortunately, it’s designed mostly for city water.
It cannot reduce most of the impurities in well water such as iron and other dissolved solids.
And even for those impurities it can capture, there are too many of them in well water that it would last just a month or two before you needed to replace it.
So if you receive well water, look for a different faucet filter or invest in a good quality RO system (either under sink or faucet).

Our Bottom Line
Kabter is certainly not a top of the line water filter not is it a high efficiency filter like an RO system. But for the price, it’s a great deal for families that receive already-treated municipal water.
It will remove the remaining chemicals and heavy metals that chlorine couldn’t get rid off.It will also eliminate the chlorine itself, giving you fresh and natural tasting water without having to install an expensive whole house or under sink water filter.
