Reverse osmosis filtration systems are the best for families that want to remove as many contaminants as possible, including harmful microbes, chlorine, chloramine, and fluoride.
We particularly like the Home Master TMHP HydroPerfection RO because it wastes less water, has a long filter life and can be used to filter both city and well water.
The system consists of multiple filtration stages, one of which is a UV filter that targets harmful microorganisms to ensure your water is completely safe to drink.
The system is easy to install and thanks to its modular filter design, filter replacements are easier than in most RO units.

Reverse osmosis filters capture more contaminants than any other types of filters. Add a bunch of other filters, and you’ve got yourself a high-performance system that delivers bottled water on demand.
The Home Master TMHP HydroPerfection RO system uses the power of reverse osmosis plus four other filters to deliver purified water.
Here are the five filters.
5-micron sediment pre-filter: Removes particulates suspended in water including silt and rust.
Catalytic carbon filter with KDF85: Removes chlorine, chloramine, dissolved solids, heavy metals, chemicals and hydrogen sulfide. This filter protects the RO membrane from iron, and chemicals like chlorine that would damage it.
0.001 micron RO membrane: Removes heavy metals, chemicals and different types of bacteria, viruses and cysts.
UV filter: Neutralizes bacteria and other harmful microorganisms using intense UV light.
Granular activated carbon post-filter: Polishes up the water by removing any remaining sediment and chemicals.
Having that many filters greatly increases filtering performance. What one filter doesn’t catch is promptly removed by the next filter.
Compared to non-RO filters that leave a lot of contaminants in water (including bacteria and germs), the HydroPerfection system removes almost everything that could harm your health or give water an unpleasant taste or odor.
But the water is not too pure that it tastes unnatural.
Because reverse osmosis removes minerals dissolved in water, even the good ones that make water taste great, the HydroPerfection filter integrates two re-mineralization points within the system.
When the water travels to the storage tank and when it goes to the faucet, minute amounts of calcium and magnesium are added to the water.
This has two big advantages.
One, it gives the water a nice natural taste. It tastes as good as expensive bottled water.
Two, it balances water pH and increases alkalinity.
There’s some scientific evidence that alkaline water has several health benefits including treating reflux disease and helping with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome).
And don’t worry, the calcium and magnesium added to the water is not enough to cause scaling or any other problems associated with hard water.
The Home Master TMHP HydroPerfection RO system is one of the few RO systems to incorporate a UV lamp.
While the RO membrane traps microorganisms, the UV filter neutralizes them by damaging their DNA. The germs die or are unable to reproduce.
Having both the RO membrane, and the UV lamp guarantees that your water is free of harmful microorganisms.
Because of the types of filters it uses, the HydroPerfection system can be safely used to filter either city water or well water.
For city water, it effectively removes chlorine as well as chloramine depending on which disinfectant your city uses.
For well water, it removes iron, hydrogen sulfide. and various dissolved minerals.
All the filters except the RO membrane have a lifespan of one year. This includes the UV lamp.
The RO membrane is good for 3-5 years.
This is on par with most other under sink water filters in the market.
The Home Master TMHP HydroPerfection RO has a water waste ration of 1:1. This means that it drains away 1 gallon of water for every 1 gallon filtered.
This is much more efficient than most RO systems some of which can waste up to 3 or 4 gallons for every 1 gallon.
Another great feature that sets the HydroPerfection apart from other RO systems is the modular filter design.
Unlike other filters where the cartridges are located inside a filter housing, HydroPerfection uses a sealed system.
When you are replacing the filters, you replace the entire part.
This has several benefits:
This system is designed for DIY installation under the counter. You do not have to hire a plumber. You also don’t need to buy any extra fittings.
The package comes with everything you need.
The manual has very detailed instructions with lots of colored pictures to guide you. It’s also a good idea to watch a few videos online to get the hang of it.
One issue several customers pointed out is that the faucet that comes with the system is not the best. It’s not very sturdy and doesn’t look as nice as some high-end faucets.
Consider buying your own faucet if you want something better looking that will last long.
Maintenance mostly involves replacing the filters and occasionally checking that everything is working fine.
Apart from the RO membrane, the other filters need to be replaced annually. Replacement takes about 10-20 minutes.
As for the RO membrane, replace it every 3-5 years.
The manual also recommends sanitizing the system and checking the tank pressure once every year. Also, keep an eye on the tubing and fittings for wear and leaks.
We like its filtration performance.
If you want complete peace of mind that your family is drinking clean and safe water, install this system.
The 5-stage filtration process removes numerous contaminants from sediment to bacteria. You also don’t have to worry about lead and other heavy metals as well as chemicals like pesticides.
As a bonus, you get great-tasting water free of chlorine and with natural minerals added.
The system is surprisingly easy to install though you’ll need to set aside at least two hours. Filter replacements are also straightforward thanks to the unique modular design.
Something else we really like, and this is an issue with most RO systems, is the high water flow rate. Most RO filters produce purifies water in a frustrating trickle.
The Hydro Perfection’s strong stream makes it easy till water bottles and pitchers.
For one, the price Compared to other RO systems, this one is fairly expensive. The filter replacements are not cheap either.
But for your money, you get better build quality, better filtration performance and extra features like the UV lamp.
I just wish they had included a premium quality faucet. The one they provide is wanting in terms of style and quality. Some customers decided to buy their own.
While most RO water filters do a great job purifying water, we think the Home Master HydroPerfection is even better.
It can remove more contaminants, including iron and chloramine, making it ideal for all kinds of water. The UV lamp is also a great addition for water safety.
If you are looking for the best under sink RO system and don’t mind spending a bit more money, we highly recommend this one.
